How do I start a workout?

Tap the "Start Workout" button on the Dashboard. You can choose from pre-built templates, create a custom workout, or continue a previous workout. Select your exercises, and you're ready to go!

How does Apple Watch integration work?

Prime Rep syncs your workout data with your Apple Watch in real-time. During workouts, you can view your current exercise, sets, reps, and rest timer on your wrist. Heart rate data from Apple Health is automatically integrated into your workout summary.

What is the combo multiplier?

The combo multiplier is a motivational feature that rewards you for completing sets quickly. It starts at 1.0x and increases by 0.2x for each set completed, up to a maximum of 6.0x. The multiplier decays over time if you rest too long between sets.

How do I track cardio workouts?

From the Dashboard, select "Cardio" as your workout type. You can track running, cycling, rowing, or custom cardio activities. Enable GPS tracking for outdoor activities to record your route and distance. Heart rate data syncs automatically from Apple Watch or compatible devices.

Can I export my workout data?

Yes! Go to Settings → Export Data. You can export all your workouts, personal records, and body measurements in either CSV (for spreadsheets) or JSON format. Choose a specific date range or export all your data at once.

How are personal records (PRs) tracked?

Prime Rep automatically detects and celebrates your PRs. We track your best performance for each exercise based on weight, reps, volume, and estimated 1RM. When you beat a previous record, you'll see a celebration animation and the PR will be logged in your history.

What are achievement badges?

Badges are rewards for reaching milestones like workout streaks, total volume lifted, or specific exercise achievements. You can view all your earned badges and progress toward unlocking new ones in the Achievements screen.

How do I sync with Apple Health?

Go to Settings → Health & Fitness → Apple Health. Grant Prime Rep permission to read heart rate data and write workout summaries. All your completed workouts will automatically appear in the Apple Health app.

What's included in the premium subscription?

Premium includes advanced analytics, unlimited workout templates, custom themes, AR share mode, priority support, and early access to new features. Subscription is handled through Apple's App Store and can be managed in your iOS Settings.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → Profile → Delete Account. This will permanently remove all your workout data, personal records, and account information. This action cannot be undone. If you just want to take a break, consider logging out instead.

Getting Started Guide

1. Create Your Profile

After signing up, complete your profile in Settings → Profile. Enter your age, weight, height, gender, and activity level. This information helps Prime Rep calculate accurate calorie burn, recommend appropriate rest times, and generate personalized workout insights.

2. Explore the Dashboard

The Dashboard is your home base. Here you'll find:

  • Quick Start: Tap "Start Workout" to begin a strength or cardio session
  • Activity Heatmap: Visual calendar showing your workout frequency and streaks
  • Stats Overview: Total workouts, current streak, volume lifted, and calories burned
  • Daily Challenge: Motivation to maintain consistency and build habits
  • Recent Workouts: Quick access to your workout history
  • Level Display: XP-based progression system that levels up as you train
3. Start Your First Workout

From the Dashboard, tap "Start Workout" and choose:

  • Workout Templates: Pre-built programs like "Push Day", "Pull Day", "Legs", or "Full Body"
  • Custom Workout: Build your own from scratch by selecting exercises
  • Quick Start: Jump into an empty workout and add exercises as you go
  • Resume Previous: Continue where you left off from a past workout

Once started, you'll enter the Active Workout screen where the real tracking begins.

4. Understanding the Active Workout Screen

This is where you'll spend most of your gym time. Key features include:

  • Exercise Cards: Each exercise shows previous sets, weight, reps, and rest times
  • Swipe Gestures: Swipe right to edit, left to delete sets or exercises
  • Rest Timer: Automatically starts after completing a set (customizable duration)
  • Combo Multiplier: Appears in bottom right, building momentum as you complete sets quickly
  • Live Activity: On iOS 16+, workout stats appear on your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island
  • Heart Rate Monitor: Real-time BPM from Apple Watch or compatible devices
  • Volume Tracker: Running total of weight lifted during the session
  • Workout Timer: Total duration displayed at the top
5. Logging Sets and Exercises

For each exercise:

  • Add Sets: Tap the "+" button or use the input fields to log weight and reps
  • Set Types: Choose from Normal, Warmup, Drop Set, or Failure sets
  • Auto-Advance: After completing a set, the app automatically moves to the next exercise
  • Notes: Add notes to individual sets or entire exercises for form cues or observations
  • PR Celebrations: When you beat a personal record, you'll see an animated celebration
  • Quick Adjustments: Tap any previous set to quickly copy its weight/reps
6. Exercise Library

  • Search & Filter: Find exercises by name, muscle group, or equipment type

Troubleshooting

My Apple Watch isn't syncing

Ensure both your iPhone and Apple Watch have Prime Rep installed and are connected via Bluetooth. Restart both devices if the issue persists. Check that you've granted Health permissions in Settings → Health & Fitness.

Workouts aren't appearing in Apple Health

Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Prime Rep and ensure "Workouts" is enabled for writing. Complete a workout to test the sync. If issues persist, try removing and re-granting Health permissions.

The app is running slowly or crashing

Try these steps:

  • Force quit the app and restart it
  • Ensure you're running the latest version from the App Store
  • Restart your iPhone
  • If the issue persists, contact bugs@primerep.org with details about when the crash occurs
I lost my workout data

All your workouts are saved to the cloud and tied to your account. If you're signed in with the same email, your data should sync automatically. If you're still missing data, contact support@primerep.org with your account email.

Privacy & Data

Is my workout data private?

Yes! Your workout data is stored securely on Google Cloud Firebase with encryption. We never sell your data or use it for advertising. Only you can access your workout history and personal records. Read our full Privacy Policy for details.

Can I download my data?

Absolutely. Go to Settings → Export Data to download all your workouts, personal records, and measurements in CSV or JSON format. You own your data and can take it with you anytime.
